The Great Bloomers Canadian tour dates

The Great Bloomers Fall Tour

The Great Bloomers are kicking off their Fall Canadian tour this Friday in their hometown of Toronto at the El Mocambo. The show marks the kick off of their Fall Tour, where they will be heading across Central and Western Canada to promote their new 7” Small Town Love.

The has approached with a stripped down sound that emphasizes the song-writing. Their trademark vocal harmonies shine over subtle, sometimes sparse, musical accompaniment. The Great Bloomers have been known as a band with a dynamic rhythm section on past recordings, but in the 7 minutes of music on Small Town Love the listener is teased with a measly 1:24 minutes of drums! The rest of the album is carried on warm guitars and rich vocal content, which is pretty nice too.

Catch them as they join great musicians across the country:

One Hundred Dollars – Summer Home Show

One Hundred Dollars Summer Home Show

Genres: Alternative, Traditional
Website: http://1hundreddollars.blogspot.com/
Label: Blue Fog

It’s been said that One Hundred Dollars ($100) lends a window into what country music might have become had the industry not been overtaken by pop music production and trite subject matter.

Founded by Ian Russell and Simone Schmidt met in 2006 over their shared love of George Jones’ and Tammy Wynette’s music, the duo were soon joined by pedal steel ace Stew Crookes. Since then, the band has expanded to a full 7-piece country outfit winning fans internationally and earning the status of heroes in their homeland of Canada. A busy schedule of travel and recording can keep them from Toronto for long stretches of time, so when they come home… it’s extra special.

Spotlight: The Morals

themorals

The Morals are a folk-couple from Barrie, Ontario. The band formed in 2009 and since then have toured relentlessly bringing their catchy songwriting and dynamic harmonies to Southern Ontario. Blending punk harmonies with Simon and Garfunkel and The Beach Boys, the songwriting from this young band is based around warm sounding acoustic guitar and the distinct and beautiful voices of singers Hollie Hobbie and Todd Hlusiak.

Truly meant for life on the road, the band is constantly playing shows. If you are lucky enough to catch the full band in performance you will literally be dumb-founded but regardless of their accompaniment or delivery The Morals music will make you surprisingly happy. It just feels good.

A mutation of the conventional concert format

Four Corners Concert Will Present Four of Toronto’s Premier Live Acts – Simultaneously

In what could be described as a mutation of the conventional concert format, FOUR CORNERS will present four of Toronto’s premier live acts – simultaneously.  Bands will exchange songs from four corners of a room, eliminating temporal separation between performers to create a more dynamic experience for the audience.

T-A-NNZ-A

Taking place Friday, July 23rd at the Steelworkers Hall in downtown Toronto, the show will feature local heavy-hitters Anagram (widely regarded as Toronto’s best live band), Teenanger (hot off the release of their latest LP, “Give me Pink”), No No Zero, and Ancestors.  While all the bands share a penchant for intense live performances, a collision of this magnitude is an event of utmost rarity.

According to organizer Corey Wells, Four Corners has been over a year in the making.  “Last Summer I started tossing around the idea but it was more difficult to pin down the logistics in terms of finding the right venue and the right bands.  It’s not a typical show so the requirements were somewhat unusual.”

Four Corners’ format presents a number of practical advantages for attendees.  “If you’re stuck in a spot with bad sightlines and can’t see the band, just wait for the next song and your vantage point will change”, says Wells.  “Plus, admission is free and we’re kicking things off with a BBQ at 9 PM.”
