——
Tin Star Orphans is a Canadian indie rock/alt country band from Toronto, Ontario. Originally formed in 2004 as Yonder, the group currently consists of leader Zachary Bennett, (vocals. guitar), Dean Marino (lead guitars/vocals), Johnny Rowe (drums), Dave Fenton (bass) and Steve Savage (keyboards).
In 2009 Tin Star Orphans – a reference to the children of people killed by sheriffs in the Old West – caught attention with their first album Yonder, a country & classical infused chamber-rock disk. The Days of Blinding Fear is a much bigger album than Yonder, building on the foundation of it’s success and adding the experience of songwriting and booming production. Beginning as epically as each song that follows, the soaring 6 minute intro Jaws Wired Shut holds nothing back as Bennett’s heart seemingly pours from his chest as he conveys intense emotions through his unique singing voice. While slightly formulaic in their barn-burning songs, the songs are made of musical elements that ebb and flow to create a textured landscape.
