Steam Whistles is passionate about doing one thing really, really well leading to hosting events such as UNSIGNED (now in fourth year running). Steam Whistle has developed a reputation for supporting talented independent musicians who share Steam Whistle’s passion and follow their dreams. The April 29th show hosted in the brewery’s Beer Hall will be a line up full of indie alternative rock with The Darcys beautiful noise, Wildlife’s contagious energy, and Freedom or Death’s inspiring revolt. Doors open at 8pm and tickets are only $5 at the door with all proceeds from ticket sales going back to the community through the Artists’ Health Centre Foundation.
About the Bands:
The Darcys upcoming record is produced by Murray Lightburn of The Dears and if that doesn’t say enough Greg Lawrence (CBC Radio 3) describes The Darcys as “a band that can easily be shortlisted for a future Polaris Prize”.
Wildlife is five energetic, adventurous, youthful barbarians who recently had a showcase at the Canadian Music Week, and according to Exclaim Magazine are “filled with youthful exuberance and affirming righteousness”.
FREEDOM OR DEATH
Freedom Or Death decided they are not followers and want to make music that they want to listen to regardless if it gets played on the radio or not. Seems as though the band has good taste with The Wall Street Journal naming Freedom Or Death one of CMJ Music Marathon’s 12 best bands.
